Emergency response organization

UCPH has set up an emergency response security unit in order to be able to cope with extraordinary hazardous events such as fire, violence and terrorism. The emergency response unit is structured with one head of Safety and Emergency Preparedness, an emergency unit based centrally at the Central Administration and six local emergency units at the faculties.

The University's Head of Safety and Emergency Preparedness will coordinate with the police and other relevant authorities.

The University's Rector is responsible for emergency management and is in overall charge of ensuring that emergency planning is given high priority at the University.

The University Director is the central crisis staff manager and is, together with rector, responsible for leading UCPH’s overall management of incidents and crises. All deans, directors and department heads are responsible for handling emergency situations on their own level.

Emergency management plans

The University's Head of Safety and Emergency Preparedness has the responsibility for the University's central contingency plan, while deans, directors and department heads are responsible for preparing and revising their own crisis and emergency management plans and providing training and drills in connection with these plans.

The University's emergency management plans in relation to fires, bomb threats and evacuation, along with the emergency communication plan, is described in the Employee Guide on the University's intranet for students and employees. The intranet is behind a firewall - employees and staff kan follow this link to the notices about emergency response on KUnet.
